The Chorkor Oven.

Due obviously to a lack of refrigerated facilities, fishermen in many African countries, particularly in the west, have suffered real "production losses" over the years. 

Trough a partnership between the Ghana Food Institute and a local group of women, Ghana became the first country of the Continent to finally invent a remarkable wood-fired Oven: the Chorkor Oven.

Named after a fishing community, this oven was technically upgraded by the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) with the aim of promoting this innovation where the need arises.

Indeed, many have been set up in various fishing villages of Haiti, notably in the Grand'Anse region.

Are they still in operation? 

Were their goals achieved? 

Unfortunately, I have no idea since I left the area 20 years ago!
